Europe’s largest multisport festival for businesses, the UK Corporate Games is coming to Nottingham from the 6th – 9th July. This week saw preparations intensify as the Games team successfully staged their Team Leader Orientation afternoon.
The Team Leader Orientation Day gave committed company Team Leaders from national companies like Intel, Asda and Lloyds Banking Group and a host of other local representatives from Freeths, Browne Jacobson and Dimensions the opportunity to get their first glimpse of the selected venues that will be hosting the Games in July.
Team Leaders from Preston, Liverpool, Leeds, London, Swindon and throughout the UK were joined by local business men and women from Nottinghamshire who were keen to see the venues and to learn a little more about what the Games can do for their business.
The journey began at the The DeVere Orchard Hotel with a fabulous lunch in the impressive Conferencing facilities at the Official Games Headquarters Hotel followed by a brief Games presentation.

Then guests boarded a luxury Sharpe’s coach to see the array of impressive venues for sport and celebrations that Nottinghamshire had to offer for this year’s Games. The tour dropped in at Team Sport Karting and the Nottinghamshire Golf Complex. Some visitors and locals alike were pleasantly surprised by the great quality venues available in the region and everybody was impressed by the incredible investment at the David Ross Sports Village, as well as the picturesque beauty of Wollaton and Colwick Park – not to mention the vast array of great facilities in the Highfields area with the Tennis and Hockey Centre’s and the great expanses of grass surfaces managed by the University and the City Council.

Bill Torch, the Team Leader from Lloyd’s Banking Group said “It has been a wonderful day. I have participated in many Corporate Games around the world but the facilities in Nottingham look really fantastic and I’m sure the Games will be superb”.
Games Director Ben Sedgemore commented “ We have all had a fabulous day and I know we have surprised a lot of people with the quality of what is available in this region. The facilities are superb and the David Ross Sports Village has blown people away. Entrants may have an idea on the quality of facilities that are available in Nottinghamshire but sometimes you have to see these venues to appreciate just how good they are. We would be happy to recommend Nottingham as an incredible destination for Sport, Business and Tourism. We are just hoping for great weather in July and it should be one of the best Games ever”
It was a real whistle stop tour before the coach headed back to the City for the evening entertainment.
A number of guests enjoyed the Nottingham Forest vs Brentford fixture albeit the reds suffered a narrow defeat.
A Fabulous End to a Wonderful Day at Nottingham Forest!
