It has been a busy start to the year at the Games Headquarters with a number of great organisations from all sectors signing up to participate. The Games has always been open to every kind and size of organisation so here are a few examples showing how this event is successfully doing just that!
bet365 could well be one of the largest local teams in the Games with a plan to enter 200 entrants across all of the sports. Group HR Director, Bob Monro said ” at bet365 we really value our employees. We all realise that our people are our biggest asset and we are delighted that we will have the chance to be strongly represented in the UK Corporate Games Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire 2018. The Games is already starting to generate a buzz around our offices and we know our teams will benefit from the team-building aspects of the Games, as well as helping to improve the health and well-being of our colleagues in the workplace. We know they will have a great time too”.
bet365 had a strong representation in 2015 but they are looking to come back with even bigger numbers for 2018 after such a positive experience for their entrants last time around.
Newcastle Borough Council are straight out of the starting blocks and setting the pace in signing up to their first UK Corporate Games. The organisation’s commitment to enter teams into the Games is a very clear signal around their mission to bring everyone together and to reinforce the confidence of their staff. In addition to this, in September last year, a team from Newcastle Borough Council took part in the World Corporate Cup of Dragonboat Racing. Taking part in the event not only generated a huge amount of pride and enthusiasm in the team but they also caught the sporting bug and were determined to be part of the UK Corporate Games in June this year!

Cllr Mark Holland said, “Newcastle Borough Council is absolutely delighted as a key partner for the Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire UK Corporate Games 2018, to confirm that, working with partners we will be entering up to 60 people across a range of sports in to the event and encouraging staff, colleagues, family and friends to get fit and healthy. The Games is set to be a fantastic event and we see real value in supporting local people to join in and get motivated for what will be one of the best events in Staffordshire in 2018.”
Highlighting the accessibility and interest in the event from a different sphere, is Phil Fortun of Staffordshire Police. This will be the 6th event that his constabulary have been represented in and everyone is hoping that it will be the best. Phil said “Having first entered the UK Corporate Games in 2015 with a small Staffs Police squad that year, the feedback from those taking part was so enthusiastic and positive that we have taken part each year since then. The whole weekend is such a great package – taking part in your own sport, supporting colleagues in their events, networking and socialising throughout…and of course there’s the infamous fancy dress party!! I’m thrilled to be bringing our largest squad yet to the 2018 Games on home territory here in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent…bring it on! Staffordshire Police are aiming to enter a team of 100 entrants so they should be a great sight to behold in their impressive green team outfits.
