The Closing Awards Celebration of the UK Corporate Games Nottingham was staged at the Senate Chamber at the University of Nottingham.
The great and the good of the World Corporate Sport Community were joined by representatives of partner organisations, sponsors and team leaders from across the UK. The Lord Mayor of Nottingham Cllr Michael Edwards was on hand to present the Sport For Life Grand Award to Vodafone and the Sheriff Of Nottingham Cllr Glyn Jenkins presented the coveted Medalist award to Vodafone too. Vodafone was the most successful organisation in the Games this year, as they scooped an impressive 9 of the 32 prestigious Awards on offer.
The Lord Mayor of Nottingham presents the Sport For Life Grand Award to Fung-Ping Cheung-Knight of Vodafone UK who entered an impressive 293 entrants into the Games in Nottingham.
Major Blue Chip Organisations like IBM, ASDA, EY, Accenture and Willis Towers Watson scooped awards but local organisations like Freeths, Nottingham Forest and Torse also secured recognition in a variety of events.
The evening kicked off with a drinks reception in the impressive surroundings with some great memories of the Games discussed.
Analysts suggest that the Games generated around £3.8 Million pounds of economic impact for the local economy as well as helping to promote Nottingham as a centre for sport, business and tourism. Ben Sedgemore, Games Director for Nottingham 2017 said ” there is no doubt that Nottingham was an incredible destination for the Games. The City is blessed with fantastic facilities for every sport on our programme. Powerful local businesses of all size and kind supported the Games by getting their staff involved and they enjoyed the competition with busineeses from across the UK. The feedback suggests that they all had an amazing experience and it was undoubtedly one of the best Games ever staged on these shores. The David Ross Sports Village is one of the most impressive sports facilities the Games has been staged at worldwide and there are some wonderful sports administrators in the area too. There is no doubt that Nottingham is powering forward and we are proud that we have been able to contribute to the city’s journey.”

The UK Corporate Games in 2018 will now return to Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire, where it will be staged from the 21st-24th June after an excellent Games there in 2015. Click here to see a video of the Games in 2015.
