Health @ Work is a registered independent charity based in Liverpool that aims to promote health and well-being in the workplace by delivering resourceful and informative training workshops to businesses of all sizes. Health @ Work issues a health, safety and well-being awards based upon an organisations ability to show dedication to their charter, rewarding those companies that make the biggest efforts to improve well-being standards in the workplace. Health @ Work supplies charters to organisations as a mechanism to monitor and support the creation of healthier and more successful, safer workplaces. Each charter is motivated by leadership, culture and communication and can be supplied to an organisation in 3 different levels depending upon the amount of commitment and the respective level of priority agreed. Health @ Work’s aims and objectives are have a direct synergy with some of the outstanding outcomes associated with involvement in the Corporate Games so there was an immediate opportunity for collaboration and mutual support.

2015 has been a fantastic year for us at the Corporate Games! We have managed to stage huge Games all over the world, from Stoke and Staffs to Sydney,Transylvania to Tokyo Each Games has been different but each has been a wonderful success in it’s own special way.
The Games has always sought to improve the health and wellbeing of staff from businesses of all shapes, sizes and sectors, and this year has been no exception. Your feedback has been brilliant and so motivating; we can clearly see the positive impact that the Games has made in the workplace to so many organisations around the world by encouraging employees to be active and take up sport whilst having a great time with your colleagues.
The year kicked off with a bang with a brand new Games in Asia. The Okinawa Corporate Gameswas a resounding success in its inaugural year. The Corporate Games Team in Okinawa did an amazing job of organising and preparing the Games and it has to be applauded for the incredible welcome that they gave entrants from all across the world as well as the precision of the event delivery. Hundreds of organisations across Japan fully embracing the Games and all it has to offer. The Games saw teams of all sizes come together for a weekend of fun and sporting competition, everyone had such a good time and this success has built a strong platform for the Games on the Island in 2016 and beyond.
In the UK, the summer was once again another huge season. With the World Corporate Cup of Soccertaking place in May in association with West Ham United FC at Upton Park and the UK Corporate Gamestaking place in June, hosted by Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. Both events were hailed as hugely successful by the host destination and from all those who took part. Both weekends brought together organisations from all over the UK and across Europe and it was great to see so many existing and new businesses represented and having such a great time. Furthermore, magnificent Games took place in Bucharest, Cape Town, Monterrey in Mexico, Istanbul and Annecy in France.
However, there were even more major events in the calendar for us this year, with the World Corporate Games in Mexico City and the Asia-Pacific Corporate Gamesin Tokyo, both events took place on the same weekend in November and highlighted the global reach of the Worldwide Corporate Games Community. We were delighted to see these Games were very well-attended after of all of the hard work that had gone in to both events and its was fantastic to see thousands of people from individual sole traders, right up to huge multi-national market leaders take part in the Games. Mexico City was an impressive host for the World Corporate Gamesbut next year this prestigious Games will move to a different world-renowned City, so watch this space for the announcement of the next World Corporate Games. Also, due to the Success of the Asia-Pacific Corporate Games, the Japanese Corporate Games Team have confirmed a 2016 Games in the Capital city once more.
November was arguably the biggest month in the Corporates Gamescalendar this year, or perhaps of all time. With the World Corporate Games and the Asia-pacific Corporate Gamestaking place at the same time, as well as the massive Australian Corporate Games. Australia hosts three editions of the Corporate Gameseach year. In Queensland and New South Wales earlier in the year and then finally in November for the Melbourne edition. The Australian Corporate Gamesis always one of the best attended Corporate Gamesand it has regularly attracted up to 10,000 participants from hundreds of organisations across Australia and further afield.
On behalf of us all here at the World Headquarters of the Corporate Games, we would like to thank you all for your continued support and efforts in all of our Games around the world. This year has been another superb year on the Corporate Games calendar, and will be one to remember.

The Official Launch of the Europe Corporate Games– Liverpool 2016 was recently staged at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool (ECL). The impending arrival of Europe’s largest multi-sport festival for organisations was celebrated with representatives from a host of different business and sectors invited. Guests included partners, sponsors, competing companies and VIP’s coming together to hear further details on the exciting plans for 2016 and the IFB as well as getting a glimpse of the brand new ECL. The MC for the evening was Louisa Preston from BBC London News
who introduced the Lord Mayor of Liverpool as the first speaker. The Lord Mayor was really warm in his address and his clear enthusiasm for the Games and pride in the City was evident for everyone to see.
The evening was a resounding success and it was captivating to be one of the first to experience the brand new facilities at Liverpool’s newest showpiece destination, the ECL.
The packed crowd in attendance were also in good spirits! With guests treated to the Europe Corporate Games cocktails specially designed by Centreplate with alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions available.
The evening provided opportunities to meet with Company Team Leaders, Civic representatives as well as the Organising Committee for the Games and a host of local influencers. The fabulous array of opportunities and corporate benefits were explored detailing how any business of any size or kind is eligible to participate. Each attendee was encouraged to get involved and build a team together to take part and get fit for business with many guests eager to ask questions and find out more!
Some Company representatives had previously been involved in 2010 and 2014 but everyone seemed to be looking forward to participating in 2016. We are now more excited than ever for the Games next year and we are working hard to ensure it will be one to remember!

This years Closing Awards Celebration was staged in the impressive Emperor’s Suite, Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire. As well as enjoying the wonderful surroundings and the engaging Awards Celebration, guests were treated to a delicious 3 course meal and drinks reception with both Virgin Trains and Alton Towers sponsoring this final Games component.
This special Games Awards Celebration involved team leaders, guests, officials and VIP’s all gathering together for the evening to celebrate the fabulous success of this years Games. The Corporate Awards including: Sport and Divisional Championships, Medallist Award and the Sport For Life Grand Award were presented to the proud recipients throughout the course of the evening.
It was a superb evening and it was great to see such an impressive turnout with the luxurious room close to capacity. Ben Sedgemore the Games Director at the Games World Headquarters said: “We have been fortunate enough to stage wonderful Games all around the world but I am proud to say that this was undoubtedly one of the best. The location and quality of the venues were really appreciated by our wonderful competing companies and we are thrilled everyone involved had such a rewarding experience in Stoke-On-Trent and Staffordshire. Alton Towers is a real jewel of a venue and this exciting destination was the perfect backdrop to the culmination of the Games. This really was a special Games and a wonderful team effort from everyone involved”.
The Biggest winner of the night was CSC who picked up 6 Awards, including 4 Sport Championship Awards for: Cycling, Squash, Swimming and Tennis. CSC also recorded a Worldwide Corporate Games Community record with a staggering 1128 Games points to claim the Championship Division Award for Division 8 (201+ athletes). The Championship Division Awards celebrate the winners of each division based on overall team size. Furthermore, the coveted Medallist Award which is presented to the organisation winning the most medals was also proudly awarded to CSC with an impressive 105 medals.
England World Cup winning Legend Gordon Banks OBE, the Sport Patron for the Games received a rapturous reception from everyone in attendance and happily presented CSC’s Medallist Award as well as having pictures taken with many of the Award Winners. Councillor Jean Bowers Lord Mayor of the City of Stoke, Kelly Burton of Virgin Trains, Ellie Jones of Alton Towers and Councillor Mark Winnington of Staffordshire County Council were some of the other Awards presenters.
Ernst and Young and Vodafone were also big winners, with Ernst and Young picking up four Sport Championship Awards for Basketball, Hockey, Netball and Volleyball and a Championship Division Award for Division 7.
Whilst Vodafone was Awarded with Sport Championship Awards for Cricket 8’s, Poker, Softball and Tenpin Bowling but more importantly team Vodafone were awarded with the Sport For Life Grand Award which celebrates the largest organisation in terms of number of representatives taking part, Vodafone was awarded this Trophy for the 5th year running. This year their tremendous team was made up of 312 athletes!
Whilst the list of other successful companies featured an incredible array of major organisations including: Lloyds Banking Group, Turner & Townsend, EDF Energy, Bentley, ASDA, Nationwide, Staffordshire Police, AXA, Sodexo, Accenture, Active Transport many smaller organisations were equally recognised like Active Transport and PSP Insurance and Financial Solutions. The night was also a wonderful way to thank the many partners and sponsors who were instrumental in helping to deliver this spectacular Games, including:
