The Alton Towers Resort – Has Something For Everyone – Just like the UK Corporate Games

The Corporate Games World Headquarters is delighted to announce that it has agreed an exciting partnership with Alton Towers.  The UK Corporate Games Stoke-On-Trent and Staffordshire 2018 taking place from the 21st-24th June, is all set to be a fantastic event but the venue for the Games Closing Awards Celebration had not been confirmed.

After months of deliberation by members of the Corporate Games Management Board and a review of venues across the area, it was unanimously agreed that the perfect place to stage the Games Closing Awards Celebration would be the spectacular Alton Towers.  In addition, the resort will also host the Games Team Leader Orientation event, which provides individuals with an exciting day of activities to prepare them for this year’s Games.  Any confirmed or potential Team Leader for the Games is eligible to attend the Team Leader Orientation afternoon, which is free of charge.  All guests will learn more about the plans and get to see a number of the great venues selected for the Games.

As part of the sponsorship, Alton Towers have kindly agreed to offer impressive discounts for anyone connected to the Games – including the participants, their families and colleagues.  Plus Games associates will also have a chance to reserve rooms from the suite of luxurious accommodation available at the resort.

Games Director, Ben Sedgemore said “we have been overwhelmed by the quality of facilities that are available in the region from the vast indoor space at Fenton Manor to the impressive sporting surfaces at Keele, from the state of the art complex at Newcastle Under Lyme College to the beauty of Trentham Gardens, the area seems to have the lot.  This made us even more determined to see the Games Closing Awards presented in real style and we are delighted to have secured one of the genuine jewels of the region in Alton Towers.  We experienced the magic of Alton Towers back in 2015 and I had been a regular visitor to this enchanting destination in my formative years- I still believe it is one of the best venues in the UK.”

Karen Johnson, Corporate Sales Manager at Alton Towers said, ‘The Alton Towers Resort is delighted to be supporting the UK Corporate Games as Official Partners this summer.  As sponsors and hosts of the Games’ Team Leader Day on the 24th April and the Closing Awards Celebration, Alton Towers is proud to be involved in an event that will bring business people together of all abilities and from all sectors in a fun, interactive and engaging way.

Much of what the Games stands for in terms of promoting team building, enhancing staff morale and employee engagement is largely reflected in the corporate events offering that the Alton Towers Resort provides.  Where else can you exclusively hire rollercoasters for team building events and wine and dine in the depths of an aquarium?  By bringing the Games to Staffordshire in 2018, it will be a great way for participants to experience the diverse range of venues, open spaces and attractions that Staffordshire has to offer.’

Large numbers of national and Local organisations such as Vodafone, Alton Towers and bet365 will be getting active and challenging representatives of major household names from across the Country like Lloyds Banking Group, Willis Towers Watson and Intel.  However, organisations of all size and kind can enter.  Sophie Seddon of Novus Property and Housing solutions said ”

“Novus are looking forward to competing in the Corporate Games this year, it’s a great way for staff engagement and to have some fun, but it’s also a brilliant way to interact with other businesses in the area. We can’t wait!”  Novus will be entering 30 participants from across their organisation.

Michelle Vorel-Adams, Commercial Director for the Games said “we have been thrilled by the appetite of our great supporting companies to be involved this year and we see this as a resounding endorsement of the continued impact that the Corporate Games is having for businesses around the UK.  The location has proven to be as popular as we had hoped and visitors have already commented on the great array of facilities and their close proximity to each other which really helps to make the event accessible for everyone.”

With the UK Corporate Games Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire 2018 still almost 8 months away, organisers have already commented upon the popular appeal of the region as a destination.

Ben Sedgemore, Games Director said recently, “Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire again seems to be a really popular destination for travelling teams to the event. We had a terrific experience with the Games there in 2015 and there seems to be an even greater appetite for companies to get involved next year. Last week sizeable teams committed from a variety of different organisations across the country like Capital One from Nottingham, BCS Consulting and Accenture from London and Places for People who are based in Preston. Hundreds of representatives from all of these organisations will be descending on the region in 2018 and we are sure they will have a fabulous experience”.

Places for People first got the Games bug when it was awarded to Preston in 2012 and they have been entering ever since. Next year they have again agreed to send 100 entrants from their offices nationwide. Their Team Leader Anastasia Bligh who is a keen running enthusiast said “We are delighted to be supporting our staff to attend the Games in Stoke On Trent and Staffordshire next year. Every year our representatives thoroughly enjoy the opportunities that the Games offers to meet people from across our group. The Games really brings us all together which gives a powerful boost to our business. The Corporate Games team always deliver an exceptional experience for us and this will be the 7th consecutive year that we will have entered more than 100 competitors from across our group. The feedback is always exceptional and we know that the Games will be eagerly anticipated by us all. We would be happy to recommend the Games to any organisation as the benefits and opportunities it creates are excellent as well as supporting the health, fitness and well-being of our staff. ”
